It has been said that a picture says a thousand words, but on Facebook a picture can also be worth a thousand clicks.  Wishpond conducted an intriguing look at the effect of picture posts versus text posts on Facebook and the results are undeniable with photo posts gaining a whopping 84% more clicks in comparison.

Visual content has always had an advantage, garnering an immediate optical stimulus that not only delivers more information faster but also allows a photo post to capture prompt attention in a sea of text. With 20% of our brains wired purely for vision, we respond with more immediacy to color and movement, especially when compared to plain, black & white blocks of text. Thus, it is to an individual or business’ best interests to utilize photo (and video) social media posts to gain a stronger foothold in their niche.
